The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs

Did you manage to catch Nathan delivering his mandarin speech?
Haha...
Ge2 wei3 shing2 jia2 bo2 de2 tong2 bao3...
Can't blame him really... since English is a non-tonal language.
hence you notice he's pitching mainly on the 2nd tone.

Sigh ... really i can't blog much cos i have so much to do.

But before I go... My english tutor told us a story off a picture book today.
Children really love picture books.
But i realise that adults can well enjoy picture books too.
At least that was what i noticed my tutorial mates and I did today.
It was a story entitled "The true story of the 3 little pigs"

If you want to tell a story to your kid,
do not just read it aloud to him or her.
It is always good if you can activate his or her prior knowledge by questioning him or her.

My tutor began by asking if we already knew the story of the 3 little pigs. Of course we did.
She then asked us who we thought wrote this book. So we inferred and said "A Wolf" haha..
Then she continued to question, asking us what does the cover page reminds us of. We intelligently replied "A newspaper, a tabloid"

As she read, she varied her voice quality, interweaving between characters, the wolf, the pigs and the narrator. It was so delightful.

In short. Would you like to make a guess about the true story of the 3 little pigs?

Well it all had to do with a cup of sugar and a really bad cold, said the Wolf.
You see, Mr Wolf had wanted to bake a cake for his dear old grandmother *AWWWWW*
and he was running out of sugar at home.
So he decided to run along to his neighbour's house (who happens to be a pig)
to ask for a cup of sugar.
He reached Mr pig's house and he said, "Who in his right mind would build his house out of straw?"
So Mr Wolf knocked on the door, and before anyone could open it, the door fell.
Thinking it was rude to let himself in, Mr Wolf called out "Little Pig, Little Pig, Are you in?"
There was no reply.
So Mr Wolf let himself in. At this point of time, he felt his nose tingle. So he huffed and he snuffed and he let out a great big sneeze "AH Choo!"
The house came tumbling down, and in the middle of the pile of straw, he saw a Little pig sticking out like a door nail and he thought it was such a waste to leave dinner lying around.
So he ate him up. Having his fill, and lacking a cup of sugar, he went on to the next house.
Which happens to be Little Pig's 2nd brother who built his house out of sticks.
So Mr Wolf knocked on the door and cried out "Little Pig, Little Pig, Are you in?"
A tiny voice replied "You got to wait, I'm shaving the hair of my chinny chin chin"
Mr Wolf thought to himself "What a Pig!" and he felt a sneeze coming through
and with a huff and a snuff, he sneezed the house of sticks down.
Again, he found in the middle of the pile, a pig sticking out like a door nail and he thought,
Why not and he had his fill. Again, he didn't get his cup of sugar.
He decided to go to the next house, belonging to the 3rd Little Pig.
This time, it was a house made of bricks.
So Mr Wolf knocked on the door and said "Little Pig Little Pig are you in?"
and the 3rd little pig replied, "Yes what do you want?"
Mr Wolf said "I was thinking if i could get a cup of sugar from you for my grandmother's birthday cake?"
the 3rd little pig replied, "Your grandmother's cake can go without sugar for all i care"
And Mr Wolf replied "You Porker! Nobody talks about my grandmother that way"
So he retaliated pouncing on the pig.
Just at that moment, the police arrived
And the rest as they said was history.
Mr Wolf was framed and put behind bars.

Now that's the true story of the 3 Little Pigs. How i love story telling.
