Learnings and Musings

Life at NIE has been pretty hectic.
I feel like a fish out of water
or rather blur sotong on campus
I get comments like...
"Eh you just woke up ah?"
"Your hair very messy leh"
"You ok or not?"
To all of which,
i would like to snap back
"MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!"

Really, i've been rather snappy these days
you who have gotten a taste of it, you know
maybe i'm still trying to adapt.
life as a student ain't easy again
especially after a 2 year hiatus from school
and my brain is still left vegetating
on some remote office desk i left behind
at Yamaha
(that's not to say things aren't the same now and how glad i am for you)
Maybe it's those assigments and projects piling up
or the need to interact with extremely vocal people
just so you have company to do projects or hold group discussions with.
Sometimes there's really nothing much intelligent to say
(since my vegetating brain)
and there are those moments when you really just feel like
"sponging out"
but you can't,
Because you have to earn that meagre 20% worth of participation points.
(aren't we supposed to be past the "reward" system stage?)
Hypocrisy sets in
when you pretend to be interested in a bunch of unknown strangers
i feel strange in another world.
Maybe the apparent reality has dawned upon me
that my lot is sealed
This is my life for 3 years. *gasp*

Anyhow,
Life ain't all that bad.
At least, I have Socks.
Who's like my stress ball.
Maybe i should get her some ear plugs for Christmas
So that she'll stop having to listen to me whine
that i'm stressed.
There's Jas and HY too,
whom i've recently gotten to know
and they're real good for laughs.
Sometimes, i get the flak quite a bit
"Are you sure you're a teacher? etc etc"
I mean, "DUH"
What do you think a teacher should personify?
An angel from heaven?
I say WE ARE ONLY HUMAN.
so please leave your double standards moral judgements at the side-lines.
Thank you very much.

Timetable hasn't been too bad, compared to people taking 2 academic subjects.
In fact, i am really thankful for the fact that i am teaching music
Because my timetable ain't that packed with stuff like lab sessions etc etc.
Oh and did i mention music's absolutely cool
even though we do facial relaxation exercises, play the recorder,
We get to do film criticism as one of the tasks.
Now i gotta choose a suitable film to centre my lesson on
Any suggestions... anyone?

It's absolutely fun fun fun...

I can't say the same for English though,
having to watch my enunciation and my articulation
through and through
as i begin this semester with Reading.
My tutor's enunciation is so crystal clear
you can't fault her for a single word.

Soon i gotta go finish up more of my readings
But before i leave, I end with a Cinquain
a five-line poem that reflects affective and cognitive responses to a concept
A technique used to activate schema (prior world knowledge) in a student
before attempting to read a passage.

Love
By you
Kissing, hugging, teasing
Understanding, Sacrificing, Giving, Felicity
