Silent Music

So cheem ah.
music and silence?
like an oxymoron

Still pretty stumped (after music class)
by the description of this
John Cage guy
supposedly an
experimental musician
who dig this...
"He is well known for his 1952 composition 4'33" whose three movements are performed without playing a single note."

Apparently this piece titled
4'33 i.e. four and a half minutes of silence
had the audience watching the piano player
"sit at the piano, and lift the lid of the piano.
Some time later, without having played any notes, he closed the lid.
A while after that, again having played nothing, he lifted the lid.
And after a period of time, he closed the lid again and rose from the piano."

He literally composed nothing.

Stupendous stupor.

It's funny how these advant garde musicians
perceive music and the world
i mean where do we draw the line between
insanity and creativity?

Of course... i'm sure John Cage has much more
to his name than silence
But... I am still stumped.
