Single, Desperate and Ugly?!?

rite...
the entire team of us have officially migrated to SDU
not exactly the most exciting of locales to be in
though
a couple of old, abandoned colonial houses
refurbished and nicely disguised in an array of colours
that spells conducive for DATING, MATCHMAKING
just keeps circling in my thoughts
whenever i look out of the window
there's that nice patio
decked out with comfy rattan chairs, umbrella shades, cooler fans
amidst the greenery where the SINGLE lily-of-the-valley blooms
as if in fatal seduction of the potential seedlings sowed in these fertilized grounds.

What am i doing at SDU, you ask..
a social taboo
that cries Single, Desperate and Ugly
underneath the nicely worded acronym
Social Development Unit. (renamed Sexy, Dashing and Unavailable for our bruised egoes)
Why? Why? Why?
Must i be posted to this god-damned place
Inaccessible, fested with societal taboos?!!
Definitely not withholding the fact that
one of these days...
I am going to die on my way to work, to lunch or from work
statistically, the chances are quite high
given the morning mad rush crowd at orchard road
and the number of roads i have to jay walk across
just to get to this god-damned forsaken place!!!
I'm not even considering death by shock
from the smelly pigeons hovering around Far East Plaza
and the occasional squirrel popping out from a nearby tree
scaring the wits out of me...
oh.. and them scrolling ads producing that eerie whirling sound
that shocked me out of my zombified skin this morning at the orchard underpass

Ok .. complain complain ..
isn't that what Singaporeans are made for?!?
It's in our blood ..
that's what drives us to excel, ain't it?
Well... that's what i am here (SDU) for anyway...
they've set up a nerve centre here
where I am going to spend the rest of my "exciting career"
drafting out replies to disgruntled Singaporeans
who can be briefly categorized into
the Loser, the Complain King, the uninformed, the contributor
and what nots...

In abosolut boredom i now sit in the self-sufficient office
nothing much doing
waiting ......
