Little Miss Misfit

Today was spent lazing in bed again
till the sun shone in and scorched my face
After which, i met up with Sockies and an ex-student
for lunch and some catching up

Arriving at Suki Sushi at Lot 1
i was stunned by the presentation of a gift
and a greeting from Pearl - the ex-student
who gave me a "Baby Tweety Bird",
an early birthday gift, she claims
in case she doesn't see me in the future

It was really sweet and thoughtful of her
and instantly i thought of how "notorious" she had been
in school, in the past

currently, not schooling,
i wonder how she'll make it in this unforgiving society of ours
that does not tolerate people like her
school drop-outs, social pariahs?
Isn't that what they judge you by in Singapore?
That's one of the first few questions people ask when they meet you
don't they?
like, "So, which school were you from?"... "Which company do you work for?"

why am i worrying?
i could get to my feet and do something about it
maybe?
urge her to go back to school?
i don't know... what can i do?

she brought her cousin along,
a sweet little girl, totally low in self-confidence
obssessed with my jc friend singer
together, they spoke of topics
that made me feel old
of which i dismissed as naivety
i need to stop looking at their world through my eyes

oh, and she remarked that i looked fierce
Do i?
when she started warming up, she remarked i looked like a Korean actress
to the comment, Dee claimed that it's true, Korean actresses are fierce looking
boo hoo ... i need to smile more
Make me smile ... someone

I am rambling on and on
as my heart rejoices that Taylor Hicks
in that definitive moment has snagged the
Americal Idol Season 5 title
and i'm so happy happy happy
the tune is replaying in my head
"Do i make you proud?" .... la la la la la

In other news, a pink dolphin carcass was washed up shore in Singapore
that's bad news, cos' it's an endangered species

I gotta start packing my room soon
renovations are starting in my house
and i have yet to decide on a colour for my room
Fiddling with Bright Pink right now ... like fuschia pink

Think i'm in la la land right now ...
