Prologue
Wailing out loud
in the madding crowd
flailing my arms
for desperate want of attention
another day in the ordinary life
of the tormented 'cher

Moderation
The past few days have been absolutely dreadful
keying in mid-year exam results.
Being a teacher, naturally i see
each test and exam a benchmark
to gauge how well i've taught my students
if results were a measure of my effort
and the moment of truth
then i conclude i have failed terribly miserably
In fact, my technical class has done so badly
the department is giving away 10 extra marks to each student
again, i'm reminded of the Little Prince
"Grown-ups like numbers"
Aptly so, because the magic number 10
save "heads (from) being chopped off by the P"
we do cheat after all
hypocrites
point in truth is
who does this benefit?

Reflections
the semester comes to a close next Friday
time for a self-check
I figured i have not given a 100% as a teacher
could have held more remedial lessons
put more effort into lesson planning
taken less MCs
berated less
insulted none
praised more
On a positive tone
there are students who've made
this job less unbearable
whom i'm proud to say i've made a difference
in their lives
I'll carry these memories with me
wherever i go
should i ever lose my bearing
they will guide me back
to why i signed away 4 years of my life

Epilogue
"Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead,
I press on towards the goal to win the prize
for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus"
Philippians 3:14
